re: If Intel goes down a lot, you receive stock, at least if this issue is consistent with all the other similar securities issued by ABN Amro/Goldman Sachs/UBS. If it goes up a lot, you get cash.

Then you are right, a covered call. At the moment, you can sell the '04 30's for $7.30, for 24% return (assuming $30 at expiration). ABN Amro certainly is working a decent spread on the deal.
