Buy and Hold is a lot harder in practice than it sounds like. Here's an interesting exercise to try at home- pull up a 1 yr. chart of the SPX. Put in RSI and Stoch. Draw a line at 30 on the RSI and 10 on the stoch. Circle the chart penetrations of this line. You'll find that prior to last September- penetrations were simply a confirmation of the downtrend. Starting with the September exit, they coincide with market lows- except this one of course, which we all KNOW will lead to a certain crash. <g>
