What happens if the aggregate forward earning is negative? The FED has to raid people's mattresses to exact the negative return on capital in order to sustain stock market prices? Inflation would accomplish the same result, but I like the mental image of the jack-booted mattress raiders ;-)

Do we actually need an NDX100 "earnings" number for this? As long as we have the weighted PE, we can compare that to the bond return. I update the PE on this thread:
