When all eligible bishops convene inside the Sistine Chapel to elect a new Pope the Catholic interpretation of such a conclave is that the Holy Spirit Itself inspires all the bishops and that, somehow, they merely cast their votes on God's candidate.... Hence, the assumption goes, the Pope is enthroned by God Himself and, accordingly, can only be dismissed by Him. So far, we only know of one way for God to dismiss His "personnel"....
