I see too much worshipping Jesus being mixed with a worship of death. Mankind still wants Jesus helplessly nailed to the cross so we can emphasize and stew and wallow in our forever sinful natures while somehow pulling off this "sleight of hand" to clear our sins through Christ while God is still "out there" in the ether. I hear what you are saying and I understand. If Christians focus on the death of Christ, they feel burdened by their own sinful nature. That is why we focus on the resurrection, but we preach the cross. Only in preaching the cross do we help illuminate to the world their depravity so they can come to a place where they are truly poor in spirit from which they will inherit the kingdom of God. Christ lays down the stipulations, we do good to heed His words.
