When you're ready, go back to this: Message 17289160 Pick out the parts that apply to Western civilization and think about whether we should have respected them and kept them simply because at one time they were respected and widely supported. And there are many, many other items that could be added to that list. Western civilization is very much a moving, evolving thing. It is not irrevocably tied to its past. A great many of the values you hold would have been considered as totally outrageous by your great great grandfather. And you would think the same of his. And my point is that the changes that have occurred were not achieved by everybody keeping their mouths shut for fear of offending their neighbor. Sometimes you have to offend your neighbor.
