First, it took a long time to hammer out the ideas and institutions that characterize the modern world, so it makes sense to allude to the whole course of Western Civilization. I think that we dismiss Athens, Jerusalem, and Rome at our peril. Anyway, I did not say that those ideas were uniquely conservative ideas, I said they were essential parts of the fabric of Western Civilization. All I said was that conservatives are more worried about preserving Western Civilization, I did not say that liberals do not share in it.......
