I don't remember a law being passed requiring a SUV in every garage. Is it free trade, really? Withholding a necessary resource because we're doing what's right? Z, that's funny. The Saudis are capitalists of the first order. They are limiting oil exports because crude fell to $18 per barrel a few months ago. At that price, the Saudis could not afford to maintain their mansions, harems and BWMer 7 series and Mercedes 500s, etc. And it is free trade.......there are countries outside of OPEC such as Russia and Norway that can and do buck OPEC's decisions re oil production and export.Remember, the Saudis are supporting the terrorism which is destroying our cause. They're paying Palestinian suicide bombers. Prince Abdullah's peace plan was totally disingenuous- it was presented to the Israelis as a take-it-or-leave-it proposal, and it included a Palestinian right of return, which we all know Israel cannot accept, period. They know it, too. It's been part of the Arab strategy since the '70s. Now they can point to Israel as a country who just doesn't want peace. Private Saudi citizens may pay suicide bombers but I have yet to see evidence that their national gov't is providing money to these people. The official position of the Saudi gov't has been to develop and promote a peace plan that will bring an end to the fighting between Israel and Palestine. Look, I am not in love with the Saudis......I don't like autocratic monarchies nor ones that have religious police and in general restrict the freedoms of their citizens. However, the Saudis are as close to an ally as we have in the Middle East.........scary but true. ted -Z
