Having thought about it, I think I agree with you. However, the Nazi ideology wasn't that different from the ideology of the imperial powers only more extreme and without any morale scruples. E.g. for British citizens during the imperial age the Indians were probably "subhumans" as well but they never intended to harm them beyond exploiting them as slaves. The Nazis on the other hand planned systematically to extinguish a whole race. That's unprecedented in history and will hopefully never happen again. But IMO we have to be careful not to drift in the same sort of thinking again -- even if it's "only" some sort of renewed imperial ideology.
