I'm not sure what you're saying, but I don't like the sound of it.

The biggest safeguard to is to develop a continum. This can be cultural, or racial, or in beliefs. A strict orthodoxy or purity inspires comparisons for good and better. A spectrum encourages non judgemental differences.
