Like you, I prefer a friendly discussion as opposed to any ranting, and raving. As for religion, I am also a Christian, but am just as turned off by some of the radical, and fanatical, things that Christians have done. That includes things in the past such as the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition, but also includes some of the more recent acts of blowing up abortion clinics, and murdering doctors that perform abortions. I am dead set against abortion as a convenience, but murdering is against the teachings of Jesus. I also have misgivings about those people that stand on street corners, or in parks, and yell; "Repent!! The world is coming to an end!!", or grab peoples sleeves and force their attempts to save them on them. That is going beyond the "telling of the Good News" as we are exhorted to do in the Bible. By molly coddling, I am referring to forcing bilingual schooling, rather than have special classes to teach immigrants English. Many immigrants, of illegals, live and thrive here without paying their portion of the taxes. Many of them receive medical care, welfare, and food stamps, that they do not qualify for. One example of disrespect for the US which was seen by a number of people, were Muslims living, working, and taking pleasure in what the US has to offer, that were openly cheering the terrorist attacks on 9/11. I know of two college professors that have been involved in collecting millions of dollars from Muslim immigrants, and passed them directly on to known terrorists groups. When they were caught, and dismissed from their college duties, they are trying to hide behind tenure. These two men do not only disrespect the US, but are guilty of treason. I welcome immigrants from any nation that come here to live, and act, like Americans. As the early colonial Americans did, they should cut the apron strings from the countries of their birth, and move forward to be good Americans. That being said, no one should be expected to totally dismiss his ancestral culture, but should not try to over shadow American culture with it. Again, having said that, my Indian blood still boils a bit at what the invading white Europeans did to us. Mixed up world, ain't it??
