Not sure if you care what I have to say on the issue, but here goes...

Z, of course I care....I would not post with you if I wasn't interested in what you have to say.

Unfortunately, Israel wasn't accomplishing much, and there were a lot of casualties on the Israeli side. Sharon decided to pull out. As soon as he did, the Christians went in and massacred the Palestinians. Sharon was actually forced to resign because his failure to prevent the massacre was seen as a major f**k-up, but there really wasn't much he could've done.

I suspect your description is closest to the truth....unfortunately, its not your description that prevails in the Arab/Muslim world.

Sharon is an old coot, but he's really not that bad of a guy.

I don't think Sharon is necessarily a bad guy, I just don't think he should be PM. I think he is not very diplomatic, I think he is too outspoken, I think he is paranoid for physiological reasons, that he is still grieving for his dead wife and is under considerable pressure from his party to resolve the crisis in favor of the Israelis.

And I don't think he can pull it off. Just my opinion.
