Despair is still a component for many or most bombers, as part of the article you linked to me suggests... I know that many Palestinians that die are evil doers, but many are not and for the children, parents, friends of the innocent victims they despair. When I said despair was a component, I was referring to the years of despair and not what is happening at this exact moment, where it is almost chic to be a suicide bomber. I'm a peaceful person, but if was born in 1970 in a palestinian refugee camp, or born in 1970 in a little hovel on a hill in the Westbank and in 1980 had my home demolished to make room for a settlement, I would despair. If as I raised my young family and I had to explain to my children why the people at the settlement (our former home) don't have to wait in line at checkpoint but we do, I would despair. If I was a teenager in a stupid ugly arab village and everyday when I looked up a hill at the shiny bright modern settlement and looked at my own sh*t life I would despair. This is a very difficult discussion to have, because I'm not interested in defending Palestinians.

I wonder why the press is not showing the "hundreds or thousands" of civilians killed in a week of extremely aggressive Israeli fighting in Palestinian cities. Could it really be that the IDF is really making an ultimate effort not to harm peaceful civilians? One would assume that in any house to house "search and destroy" operation mistakes will occur in at least one out of ten houses "searched and destroyed", but not only are the civilian casualties extremely small, even the Palestinians combatant casualties are extremely small. I think it is less than 20 per days, when you consider the operations are going on in seven major cities, that is less than three per city er day. The press is also silent on the subject of the cessation of suicide bombing, in the last five days, prior to the incursion, there were some three to four attempts per day and about one in ten successes (three in a row starting with the Seder massacre, and then none). Maybe Sharon is finally discharging its responsibilities to protect the lives of Israel citizenry, maybe that is the only way that can be accomplished. Zeev

Mona Charon is good today: washingtontimes.com What many forget is that the PA, Hamas, al Aqsa, etc. etc. are conducting a relentless campaign of indoctrination on it's own people. This has been an ongoing process in various forms for at least 50 years, but has picked considerable pace and energy with the inflow of money from many sources Arab and Western. The aims are obvious, at least to me. 1.) De-humanize the Jews and by extension Americans (Europeans are next in line). 2.) Turn the suicide bomber into the equivalent of a sports hero. 3.) Make the suicide bomber the new "wonder weapon" of the Arab world. If #3 is allow to happen a reign of terror will be unleashed on the world such as the world has never seen.
