Housing in EU and Japan is a different story. In those countries people give up buying houses and consume other -big ticket- stuff.

I even think that's it is on purpose, so that money doesn't go into brick and mortar and is free to consume.

But you are going to tell me: They need houses, don't they?. Yes, but they are smaller than America and they prefer to rent rather than own a house.
