I have the home version. Don't really know what the difference is. But I had some trouble with things not working at first. But after going and upgrading everything with XP approved drivers it now runs pretty smooth.

As for trading platforms you need to look into your particular model. They must have a page dealing with what you need when upgrading your OS. :)

Brother-in-law has XP-Pro and loves it. Haven't had the chance to see it or ask him questions yet so I don't know the difference between pro and home. I'm using home and to this point I think it's great.
