Tracing money is the kind of thing that absolutely requires full public accountability and open realtime disclosure. The documents are already in electronic form, all that's needed is an honest 21st century government to web-enable all information that doesn't have bona-fide military reasons for secrecy.

The obsession with secrecy has to be reversed.

I can't be convinced that the $43 million did, or did not go to the Taliban, or even whether it existed, without some honest accounting.

As we know, that is the scarcest of commodities these days.

What I do know is that

Secrecy + Lots of Taxpayer Money = Corruption

With that as an overriding principle, which it is, then the likelihood that millions went for the wrong purposes is much higher than it went for some purpose that would be accepted by the American people. We get screwed, people around the world get killed, and profiteers make zillions.

A bad scenario.
