Hezbollah offers captured Israeli for Palestinians in Jenin

By The Associated Press

BEIRUT - The leader of the militant Lebanese-based Hezbollah organization Thursday
offered to trade an Israeli businessman captured by the group in exchange for a
guarantee that Israel would spare the lives of about 100 Palestinian guerrillas still holding
out in the West Bank refugee camp of Jenin.

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, in a statement issued by his office, offered that any mediator
could come forward to work out the details of the deal.

He said his offer to the Israelis would be to release businessman Elhanan Tennenbaum,
held by the guerrillas since October 2000, in return for sparing the lives of about 100
Palestinian guerrillas still trapped in the Jenin refugee camp.
