Mind if i ask how much time you've spent outside of the US in areas other than english speaking?
To Mejico? Somewhere north of fifty times, could be north of 100. And I'm not counting day trips across the border. To the interior. Guadalajara; Los Barriles, BCS; Mexico, DF; the Yucatan many times; Veracruz; Chiapas; Cuernevaca; all the major west coast beach towns; other places. Love Mesoamerican archaeology.

Also France, Germany, Japan, England (guess that doesn't count, right?), Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras. All I can think of at the mooment, but I've haven't been sitting on butt here in the US all the time, no.

only 'gringo tourist dollars' drive the actions of mexicanos
That's not what I said. I said that's why most of them who know some English learned it.

there is a natural friendliness, a spirit of hospitality, that compares well with anywhere else i've ever spent time
I never said otherwise.

there is for obvious reason a deeply ingrained suspicion of the US, however until you spell it out directly people will allow you the possibility of being canadian or british or european continental, all of whom speak at least passable english
That I failed to notice. Interesting. Must have been asleep those 50+ trips.

in el DF there are daily newspapers in english
The Mexico City News, yes.

<i.make a connection, it can be done fairly easily - my brother in law knows a scot who
is working for the local municipio, or the education department, not sure which but it sounded like a civil service job he
has
Yup. It takes connections and mordita. Or you can live there without working for 5 years, then they will let you work legally. I just think the same terms- - live there without working for 5 years- -shold be applied to Mexicans coming into the US. Either the gov't of Mexico would change the terms or face a depression.

Canadians generally find México to be easier and more friendly than the US
Dang! Sure are a lot of you down here. You people must be a lot stupider than I thought to come in such numbers to country where you are mistreated so much. I would have sworn Canadians were smarter than that.

Uh, you are aware that Canadians are the 2nd largest immigrant group- -both legal and illegal- -to the US, right?
ANd I'd be perfectly happy to just open our northern border and let any come who want to. You may have to tighten up immigration controls from other countries for that to happen, though. There's a war on.
