The network cards I use have a 10mb transfer rate. That's as fast a connection you'll ever need in a home network.

Basically all I'm doing is connecting all the computers in my house together using my existing phone jacks. (A daisy chain)

They sell a surge protector that separates the computer from the wall jack to prevent any problems.

I still use a cable modem for my internet service and that allows "all" of the computers on my network to surf the net at one time and all at high speeds.

And of course they all share one printer...
