Thanks for the correction on my 384kbs error. 307 kbs it is.

I agree that the emphasis, as with Verizon's efforts, should be on what is real and expected. 'Bursts to 144 kbs' is fine. But what about comparing GSM and GPRS in the same sentence with similar burst and average throughput expectations. That is what I meant by hype, not exaggerating any numbers.

I did not mention EDGE since despite announcements about it that have been made by ATT et al., I still am not aware of any existing EDGE base stations in place, nor handsets in existence.

I still like 1x, but there must be something that would be catchy and work. Again I appeal to the marketing folks. Hopefully Qcom and the carriers are working on this. However, perhaps PCS and Verizon wouldn't support such a campaign as it would then force them to compete on the same foundation. Might not be as easy.

EL - Speed tests - I know that my GPRS is really a dissapointment but I would like to actually test the speed.

I tried a couple of speed tests but my CAssiopeia E115 has Win CE and most of the speed tests don't seem to be compatible with CE.

Does anyone know of one that works with CE?

Best,

L
