Re: The service experience of Gateway and Emachines is just that - experience I have plenty of experience with Gateways at work (though a lot less recently, since we've shifted a lot of buying to whitebox vendors) and know many people who've bought eMachines over the years. Doesn't this direct experience count? Would you prefer 3rd hand rumors? I'm pretty sure that there are others who post on this boards who've seen a similar trend of Gateway, Dell, Compaq, IBM, desktops not being as well built as they used to be (though, also quite a bit less expensive to buy than they used to be) and eMachines being much better than they used to be (though still not quite as good as Gateway, Dell, Compaq, IBM).
