Arafat could not or would not control Hamas and now his organization is working with Hamas on terrorist attacks.

The US has a disagreement with the sovereign state of Israel on exactly how it should try to defend itself against terrorist organizations.

I don't think the situations are too similar.

Israel is an independent democratic country.

you stretch your analogies to a degree that is borderline with pure hatred of Israel. Are you sure have friends in Israel?
