That's a pretty agreeable motto. Creativity comes from citizens, not from the bureacratic filter of government.

From where we are now, inefficiency is acceptable to a large degree (who knows, maybe we get 30% of what we pay for? As Will Rogers said, we don't get all the government we pay for -- thank goodness!).

But not pathology -- I see the "governs least" to be most important where secrecy of the warlords of government are concerned. Licking their chops at $2 trillion in revenue are no doubt lots of pathological personalities whose actions would be unacceptable to the public, were they known.

Am currently reading an excellent out-of-print book
called "Police State", by Jules Archer, from Amazon's used books.

Worth a read for anyone who wants to review how countries evolved into police states, and how we have been particularly vulnerable since the Nixon era.
