Go to Help and Support Center / Index and find compatibility. That will give you the info on how to run programs designed for earlier os's. That may clear up the crashes. XP is not crash-proof but is much more stable than it's forerunners. I've had maybe three spontaneous reboots in the months I've been using XP. From what I have been able to find, that's XP's version of the BSOD. Go to Start/Run and type in eventvwr and hit the OK button and expand the items on the right of the window. You'll be surprised at the number of glitches that XP doesn't show you. If you're getting the message on a regular basis do a Windows Update. There is a fix there for several XP bugs, one of which involves reboots.
