I detect a hint of sarcasm, as if to say that we're being held up by the Middle East thieves with this high price. Am I reading you right?

If so, then I'm terribly <wink> disappointed that your perspective seems more hysterical than historical. Adjusting for inflation, WTI was trading for $60/bbl in 1981, and we may have been uncomfortably in recession, but it sure wasn't a crisis. And upper $20's per barrel is no real problem today. Except to those few who bravely stall out in traffic jams in their EarthRaper(TM) SUVs.
