If you think the US-Israeli relationship is somewhat difficult now, wait until Powell sits down with Sharon and pulls out a set of principles to guide a future negotiation once a ceasefire sets in. What will set Sharon off is when Powell suggests that Sharon dismantle a few remote settlements at the head of a long list of "confidence-building" measures.

Sort of like a Chinese restaurant menu; choose two from Plan A and two from Plan B or mix and match but take off a settlement or two since you've still got quite a few left to deal away for later.

Not today, Powell will say, maybe later when you feel comfortable with it.
