IBM has been accused of using accounting tricks to prop up earnings for quite some time. Maybe they've deciding, because of the Enron mess, to stop doing this, and today's news is the result.

No indication going forward ... IBM has held up extremely well during
the "tech train wreck". It is just their time for adjustment. Orders
in "techland" are continuing to look better.
