re: SONY Quadband DuettoDC GSM/GPRS/EDGE Transceiver

<< Sony will provide a new chip set >>

Old news, but this is the chipset that SuperCdmaPatriotSeybold (the CDMA Frezza) refers to...

SONY Introduces Advanced Quadband Transceiver - Sony Semiconductor & Devices Europe announced its first Quadband GSM/GPRS/Edge transceiver, the DuettoDC. Driven by the new demands of the US market in addition to European requirements, the DuettoDC supports the 4 GSM bands 850/900/1800/1900 and is GPRS/EDGE compatible. This allows handset manufacturers to develop a flexible, common RF platform for their worldwide GSM handset programs. Further, the DuettoDC is specifically designed to address handset cost reduction through minimising the RF Bill of Materials, whilst elegantly overcoming the traditional problems of direct conversion. With its ‘future proof’ RF architecture, the DuettoDC is a key element in a new range of leading edge Sony SDE RF solutions addressing the requirements. (By Sony)
