Ted,

Re: "Oh, and if you think the Arabs can pull this one off.....that the
60's war proved that they are inept fighters, well its possible to contend
that these ain't your father's Arabs."

Ted, the Israeli's can defend themselves ... What they need from the
US and EU is to not put "roadblocks" in their way. Israel would
quickly gain air supremacy and that would be "game, set, match".

Make It So,
Yousef

>Z, lets set up a theoretical scenario some time in the near future. Tensions once again have built up between Israel and its neighbors. Suddenly, the Arabs jointly declare war on Israel and begin a major offensive. Israel appeals to the US and its European allies for military support.

>However, the US is dealing with a major civil war in a Central American country and with an ongoing series of terrorists attacks within its own borders. The best the US can do is send a carrier and two warships based in the Mediterranean. In the meantime, the EU on a split vote decides not to send military aid to Israel. Israel is on its own.

I'm pretty sure that American would deal with the Middle East before it deals with Central America. Besides, America can definitely fight on a few fronts at the same time.

>You don't think this scenario is a very real possibility? I would suggest to think again. I think its very possible, maybe even probable, and is something that every person involved in this process needs to be thinking about. Just my opinion.

I'm pretty sure that it's going to war no matter what's done, unless the Palestinians are given a Right of Return- then Israel will just disappear slowly. Arafat and any of the other Palestinian leaders won't accept less than a Right of Return, and that path will eventually lead to war. If Israel just pulls out and goes back to the negotiating table, there will be more suicide bombings and Israel will have to go back into the territories again... eventually this has to lead to war. The Arabs will not give up. I'm nearly sure of it. Even if my plan happens, and Israel eliminates all of the terrorists within its borders, I still see no peace in sight, as the Arab states will attack Israel. Of course, Israel has more of a chance of winning a war if it doesn't have terrorists within its borders.

Call me a pessimist...
