Very interesting stuff!
Thanks.

Surprisingly, almost nothing is known about the fabled continent of Lemuria reputed to have existed in the Pacific at about the same period as Atlantis.

There are a few rather controversial ancient Chinese tales about a land mass that formerly existed in what is now the Pacific Ocean.

A couple of Chinese archaelogists speculated that the ancient Chinese first learnt the art of jade carving from the Mayas. If that were true, those ancients somehow made contact over the land or over the wide expanse of water!

You once posted something about an Englishman who found "evidence" that the Chinese were the first to circumnavigate the globe. Any more info on that?
What came of that guy's "ground-breaking" presentation of his "evidence"?

Members of my family used to live on the coast of the Black Sea about 7800 years ago (I have their high school year book). The situation at that time, was that the Dardanelles were dammed up by rock and only a trickle got through from the mediterranean to the northern freshwater sea at the time, by a tiny waterfall. There was a severe Anatolian earthquake, as oft happens in that area, and the cliff fell, releasing the force of the Mediterranean in a mile wide flood which filled the northern sea up and intruded hundreds of miles inland. The Black sea gained 150 feet in elevation. In 3 weeks it became the same level as the Mediterranean. This flood covered 300,000 thousand square miles of farmland and displaced the Jews, Cossaks, Babylonians, Georgians, Anatolians and Greeks who lived in that rich area. This became known as the flood of Gilgamesh by the Babylonians and the great flood of Moses by the Jews. Several early Greek and Georgian cities were flooded and now lie off the coast of Georgia perhaps 100 miles under about 100 feet of water. Atalantis was one of them.
