Some students of mysticism (not the "mysticism" that Frank Wallace railed against) told me that ordinary men and women can hear "voices" from within themselves if they happen to be psychic 1. naturally, or 2. by practicing certain techniques to "awaken their psychic centers." What is the point of all this? They claim it is for the sake of expanding their consciousness in general for A. a growing understanding and appreciation of all Creation (everyone and everything in the universe); B. peace and harmony within themselves and love for others; C. acquiring knowledge through the inner-self/intuition. It has been speculated that early man survived with the help of inner promptings (inner voices) related to guidance from his "inner-self" which draws from an "Infinite Source of Knowledge and Wisdom." If this be true, then that was how our ancestors (whose right hemispheric brains/"inner-selves" had not yet gone to "sleep"), acquired some of their unusual knowledge which so impressed us 'scientific' moderns today. What this seems to suggest is that if you are able to reawaken your right hemispheric brain properly (otherwise you will be "schizo") or reawaken your "inner self", you will be able to tap into an "Infinite Source of Knowledge and Wisdom" or, in common parlance, "tap the Subconscious." (BTW, some of the brightest and smartest folks happen to be "schizos" at one time or another.) According to some mystics, modern men and women have, by mostly using their analytical (left-hemispheric) brain in this modern and scientific age, stifled their inner-selves almost completely. According to Frank Marshall, right-hemispheric brain functionings ("inner voices") were largely supplanted when man discovered/invented "consciousness" and this led to the breakdown of man's bicameral mind, and exploitation of folks whose brains still function bicamerally by means of foisting guilt upon those folks. However, according to folks like von Danniken (of Chariots of the Gods fame), some ancients got their impressive knowledge from space-aliens who came visiting a very long time ago and who also left behind some of their superior genes ---- genes that are responsible for the "smarts" that appear among us from time to time. Ever heard of the expression, "The sons of God mated with the daughters of Man" ?
