I wonder how many are the former and how many the latter. The installed base of X86-64 systems may have already surpassed the installed base of IA-64 systems.

Zilog dominated 8 bit processors, Intel was the big name for 16 bit and 32 bit. AMD didn't dominate CPU sales until 64 bits became standard...

I wonder if we'll be reading that soon?
