I think they delta hedge, and that may be the reason the market was brought back up above the gap.

I don't follow you here at all. If they had already delta hedged thay could just have let the mess sink.

Note: they still could be massively short but for expiry reasons unwilling to let it drop right now. At any rate, the move up today suggests more that they are NOT hedged short at this point than they are IMO, but it is a guess either way. When we see the action over the next few days or so we will know (if we drop) or have ambiguity if we do not. My guess is they manage to keep this mess more or less propped up thru expiry wed.

I hope they keep the mess propped up longer as I will be on vacation thursday and Friday of expiry week. (sigh)
The best case for me is a move above max pain Friday before expiry. I will short that via puts, hoping for a drop thru wed of expiry that continues south.
