Did you see that Gretchen Morgenson won a Pulitzer, for taking analysts to task? Even Larry Dudash's Hal appears to be a fan of Gretchen's. Imagine a stock-trading system that reads the newspaper.

From the NYT today:

"Ms. Morgenson, a stockbroker turned journalist, exposed the hidden conflicts of interest that abound among stock analysts. Her articles illuminated a culture in which analysts spent less time on research and more time promoting stocks of companies that did business with their firms. Last year, she was the only reporter to also look at stockbrokers who advised the employees of companies like Microsoft and Worldcom to make risky bets on stock options.

" 'Individual investors were driven like sheep to the slaughter by analysts looking to line their own pockets,' she said."
