"Canadian blocade of Pudjet sound..." is not an act of war, it could be a case for war, IMO.
Not enough for the US to explode all the Canadian top guns without trying some kind of talk, before.

Like when the US did blocade Cuba, because Cuba was harboring Russian missiles. The blocade was not an act of war, but could have been a case for war for the Russian submarines.

In 1956, EIlat was not cut off, the Suez canal was, and the oil kept coming from Iran, via the Red sea.

As for king Hussein, he could have made peace with Israel before anyone else. His father could have, anytime.
There have been secret talks between the Hachemite kings and Israeli top gov people even in 1948. But they never materialized... small kings.
