You're posting nothing but propaganda from an industry site.

Ethanol production is not supported by anyone outside the boondoggle.

Ethanol production cannot exist w/o massive taxpayer subsidies. The Energy department studies have found since its inception that ethanol wastes fuel. Every independent study confirms that fact.

Note the comparison of a refined product, ethanol, with a raw product, crude oil, on a barrrel for barrel basis. Very misleading. I agree with you that the energy cost to produce ethanol has to be very great.
