Applied Mat'ls said to win TSMC orders (AMAT, TSM) By Bill Clifford Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., the world's largest contract maker of chips, has placed orders for $200 million worth of eight-inch wafer equipment from Applied Materials of the U.S. (AMAT) to meet demand for its foundry services, the Economic Daily News reported Wednesday. TSMC (TSM) plans to replace some of its eight-inch wafer equipment to boost manufacturing capability with advanced chip-making technologies, and it may also be buying equipment from other companies, the report said.>>
