He also praised the beginning of an Israeli withdrawal from occupied Palestinian areas, saying he hoped it was "the beginning of the end" of the spiraling violence in the region.

Still intrigued about the worldwide Jewish population. us-israel.org Year: 1900........... 11,000,000 1914........... 13,500,000 1939........... 16,728,000 1948........... 11,500,000 1969........... 13,786,000 2000........... 13,191,500 The Jewish population decreased between 1969 and 2000. From 1900 till 1939 (40 year span) the population increased 50% but only increased 20% the last 50 years. Considering better living conditions as well as medical advances I would think that the population would have at least doubled the last 50 years.
