He (the prime minister) also made a comparison between Haider and Hitler -- might have to do with the upcoming election campaign.

They seem to be debating the issue of laws or decrees by former president Benes (who was president prior to and after the WWII) that were used to expel Sudeten Germans from Sudeten-lands and to some Hungarians from southern Slovakia. I am not sure if I understand the issue correctly, but I think the laws are still on the books in Czech republic.

Even though I think the laws were horrible, canceling the laws would open the doors to claims by Germans who were deported to claim their property back. Which at this point I am not sure it is a good idea, since the ownership must have changed several times over the last 57 years, and it would just cause too much confusion.
