I have long thought that the processor wars will be won now on the ability to build or finance fabs. Intel can build fabs out of cash flow, it looks like AMD has reached a point where they can't build a fab even with borrowed money. I suspect this is a sign of the end time for them. This story is not just about the ability to design complex chips but about efficiently making complex chips. For the other side of this debate visit the intel thread on SI.
