>By my estimation, both Sharon and Arafat are out of control. Both have asked the US to participate and take an active role in the peace making process. If the US believes that it is in the best interest of peace for Sharon to pull back, then it has every right to make that demand.

Actually, I don't recall Sharon asking the US to
participate... he would like to just carry on his war on terrorism, and the world won't let him.

Well you missed it....it was when he was asking for more aid or armaments or both from us. Does Sharon think he can get our aid and then do whatever wants? I don't think so.

As for carrying out his war on terrorism without interference......wouldn't we all like to do whatever we want whenever we want without restriction.......or did you not hear the complaints from other countries during our bombing foray in Afghanistan.

>Not for one moment do I forget about my friends in Israel. The kibbutz of one of them is very close to the Golan Hts.

The Golan Heights area is actually pretty safe... Israel has a defensive advantage there... there are Druze (they are Arabs, they just don't want to be identified with them)who live there, but the Druze want to be part of Israel and are quite peaceful. They actually serve quite proudly in the Israeli army.

In my mind no place in Israel is safe and the G. Hts is way too close to both Syria and Lebanon for my blood.
