As more and more puts get more and more in the money, the option ppits that sold those puts go more and more short to make sure thay do dot get killed by too many putsn too fan in the money. Of course this shortimg to protect the downside causes further tankage.

Same thing on the way back up.
It mostly affects the big stocks, but actions on the big stocks especially QQQ is obviopusly gonna drive the whole market.
