Listening to the T reverse split explanation due to the broadband sale I could not help but thank our lucky stars that the IBM Board decided to go outside and bring in Gerstner versus going inside and elevating Armstrong who was the number two guy around that time. He was a proponent of decentralization and would have driven each sector into the ground. IBM would be in the same shape as T if it even existed at all at this point. Something to think about as we complain about the first warning in ten years.

If you wish to see a "way back machine" check this out.
BTW, I started using IBM mainframes as far back as 1963.
Things got real ugly when IBM really screwed the pooch
with their PC. They have gone back to service/advice
as a major part of their business. This came into play
with Mr. G., and accounts for a large portion of their
income today. For a real "kick", change the periods
to 360 months. Best wishes!
