When your computer starts up it loads the Office toolbar and keeps it open. This is a drag on your system resources. Having the toolbar open all the time will only save you a fraction of a second in loading the office program you're going to use. It's not a biggie, just more of a personal observation. As they say, YMMV (your mileage may vary) <gg> Glad the minimized thing worked for you.

Getting rid of the toolbar is a *good* idea. It really slows things down.

If you have Internet Explorer installed, you can drag shortcuts off of the desktop to the icon tray on the left where IE has its launch icons and they stick. You can also right click on icons you don't use and delete them.

I have ten icons that I use frequently down there and have found it to be a very convenient way to launch programs.
