This is straight from the dictionary:

Definition: bear [bair ] (plural bears) noun

1. large furry animal: a large strong omnivorous four-legged mammal that has thick shaggy fur and sharp claws and walks on the flat of its paws. Family Ursidae

2. medium-sized furry animal: an animal that resembles but is unrelated to the true bear, for example, the koala

3. See teddy bear

4. bad-tempered person: somebody who is surly or ill-tempered (informal)

5. difficult thing: something difficult to experience or endure (slang)

6. somebody who anticipates negativity in stock prices: somebody who sells stocks or commodities in anticipation of falling prices. See also bull1n.4

7. somebody anticipating a profit on bad business conditions: hoping for unfavorable business conditions
