L-3 Comms (LLL) 123.89 +3.36: Moving in-synch with its defense cohorts, LLL stock has run over 40% YTD on strong sector/co. commentary and upside co. reports. Shares take off another 3% today following an upbeat sector initiation by UBS Warburg yesterday and a bullish note out of CIBC. Firm raises ests and price target (to $135 from $120) due to increased conviction in co's accelerating growth, evident from the transition to network-centric warfare and recent wins in airport explosion detection systems. CIBC believes shares should merit a premium valuation to other defense vendors because of LLL's unique combination of strength in military comm and exposure to the sensor network buildout, leading to growth well above the industry.
