Ted, <The key is not totally defeating the Germans and Japanese but insuring that they put in democratic gov'ts and helping them rebuild economically.>

You think that would have happened without a complete defeat of the Nazis and the Japanese imperialists? That's an awfully naive view to take.

Have you ever heard of such minor thing as Great Depression and few years prior to that? US was not much better of economically right after WWI and it was much worse in years that followed

Ted,

like after WWI? Germany was totally defeated then. Why can you not acknowledge that we learned from our mistakes? Why must you make your pet theory work no matter what?

Well, as long as it works, why not? Germany was not totally defeated. They sued for peace, when the balance of power started turning against them

My experience has been is that when you do the right thing, people get it and the good people step up.

Like with Palestinians? The US and Europeans have been sending them economic aid, for several years now, on top of aid they get from wealthy Arab countries. Has anyone stepped up?

Joe
