"I thought the world didn't need hi performance "stuff" so I guess the fact that it isn't shipping is no problem."

Your intended sarcasm looks very foolish. You are confusing
"customer's needs" with the need to survive in
competitition with a powerful monopolist.

Well, it might not be a problem for "the world", but it would be a problem for AMD.

I'm still optimistic. In 1999-2000, Intel was ahead of AMD for about 6 months when it got to .18 ahead of AMD getting to .18. Then AMD moved to .18 copper way ahead of Intel, and Intel spent a year eating AMD's dust until it could get a .13 copper process to go up against AMD's .18 copper process.

All the while the Paul and Elmer show was screeching "copper doesn't matter at .18."

Sure it didn't.

AMD has set the stage for another performance of the same show, this time starring SOI.

Will they pull off the sequel?

We'll know this fall.
