For my opinions I refer to the world acclaimed reporter, war correspondent (since 1929) and journalist, Joseph P.Harsch. In his memoirs AT THE HINGE OF HISTORY in chap. titled ARABS and ISRAELIS he wrote in 1993 the following, pg. 213: "Since the 1967 war the U.S. has subsidized Israel at an official rate that, from a small beginning, has gradually risen to about 3.7 billion a year. The actual subsidy, if all forms of U.S. support to Israel are counted, runs much higher; it includes such items as U.S. help with the cost of moving Jewish immigrants from the Soviet Union, of building houses for those immigrants in Israel, of treating the interest on Israel Gov't bonds and contributions to Israel charities as tax exempt, of tariff exemptions for Israeli goods entering the U.S., and of paying for some Israeli weapons built in Israel. Add to this the $2 bill a year the U.S. pays to Egypt to be at peace with Israel. Financial support for Israel takes many forms and since 1967 amounts in fact to the U.S. paying what it costs Israel to NOT make peace with the neighboring Arabs by refusing to surrender the occupied territories. In very rough terms the U.S. provides more than one thousand dollars a year to every Jew in Israel.......... The net conclusion from all the above is that under present conditions Israel has little incentive to take the final step necessary for a lasting peace with its Arab neighbors............The subsidy is not in danger so long as the condition of suspended hostility remains." This is extracted from the book published in 1994. Some sentences were removed from the paragraph continuity for the sake of brevity. To complete one's education the entire chapter should be read from beginning to end. For further confirmation of some of the treaty violations and later deviations from prior agreements with the Arabs by even President Franklin Roosevelt, I would refer you to a very long arduously precise book by Dean Acheson, President Truman's Sec'ty. of State, "PRESENT AT THE CREATION" in particular the Chap. titled, "The puzzle of Palestine." There's much more than meets the eye in the present chaos guaranteed by actions taken by and not taken by the great powers after WW2. Redundant Biblical arguments have little to do with it. Angler
