SIPC coverage does not depend upon whether your brokerage firm is self-clearing or clears on an omnibus/FD basis.

So if one is afraid that his broker goes bust should one sell his stocks, go cash and wire the money to another account (wire is very fast) or keep stocks (which seems safer than cash for protection matter) and proceed with an account transfer which is a 2 3 week process. That is the Question...<G>
